I do not like to call it diet. Diet is usually short term temporary food plan. I call it life style or Method. Since my life style didn’t work really well for my figure, I had to change it. I studied many different approaches and came up with combination of few, which I felt comfortable with and it worked for me.
It based on net carb index of food. Lower the index, less chance you gain weight from that. All low carb diets are based on idea that carbs are really elevating sugar level in your blood. If you eat fat at the same time, it goes directly to your butt or belly or somewhere, where you do not want it. Moreover, even if you do not eat fat with carbs, too much carbs will be converted in your body into fat. I am not a doctor, if you like doctor explanation read here. I read it once, it sounded reasonable, I tried and it worked. In the nutshell:
There are good carbs and bad carbs.
There are 3 rules:
Avoid bad carbs.
Do not mix carbs and fat.
Consume carbs for breakfast only. You can have dinner with good carbs like whole wheat pasta or rice once a week.

Bad carbs. Sugar, honey, processed rice (white rice), processed wheat ( pasta, everything made from white flour), potatoes, bananas, grapes, all starchy food, dry fruit

Good carbs are in fruits (not bananas), whole wheat products, brown rice.

Basically all products have net carbs index, lower the index, less chance you will
gain weight.
I like this method, because it is more flexible you can choose what to eat, you are not stuck with one type of food. You can have really balanced and healthy food plan and enjoy your meals.
It is very interesting that once you get use to new food, you would not like stuff you use eat as much.
